Meet dialysis unit nurse Tiffany 10 April 2025 With a range of nursing opportunities currently available at Sir Charles Gardiner (SCGH) and Osborne Park Hospitals (OPH), Tiffany shared why nurses enjoy working for our organisation. Meet Haematology and Oncology nurse Olivia 10 February 2025 With a range of nursing opportunities currently available at Sir Charles Gardiner (SCGH) and Osborne Park Hospitals, Olivia shared what she loved most about working as a nurse at SCGH and why others should join the team. After moving to Perth from the United Kingdom in 2023, Olivia joined the SCGH Haematology and Oncology nursing team. "When I got here and told people that I will be working at ‘Charlies’ everyone told me what a great hospital it is to work for - so I was really excited to start," she said. "I have now been working at SCGH for just over a year in Haematology and Oncology, and my experience so far has been amazing," she said. "My colleagues in Haematology and Oncology have been really supportive, as emigrating to a new country can be overwhelming at first, so I can’t thank both teams enough for their support and being so welcoming and friendly." Neurologist and researcher recognised with Officer of the Order of Australia 30 January 2025 Congratulations to Professor Graeme Hankey who last weekend received the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to medicine as a neurologist and stroke physician, to research, and as an editor and author. Professor Hankey is a highly regarded member of the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) Department of Neurology, having worked a Consultant Physician from 2013 to 2023 and as a Professor of Neurology at The University of Western Australia during the same period. In 2023, Professor Hankey was appointed the inaugural UWA Perron Institute Chair in Stroke Research, where he runs large international trials while training up the next generation of neurologists. Meet Emergency Department nurse Jess 17 January 2025 With a range of nursing opportunities currently available at Sir Charles Gairdner (SCGH) and Osborne Park Hospital (OPH), Emergency Department nurse Jess shared why she loves working at Charlies and why others will too. In 2022, Jess made the decision to return to Perth after several years living on the east coast. “I missed the WA lifestyle, the incredible beaches, warm sunny days and the many road trip adventures,” Jess said.
