Buggy driver
The free buggy service at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital helps patients reach their appointments comfortably and on time. There as two services offered, an on-demand courtesy buggy service and a hop-on-hop-off circle buggy route.
Buggy driver volunteers play an essential role in supporting people who may have difficulty walking long distances across the hospital campus by offering safe, friendly transport.
The service helps reduce stress, fatigue and anxiety for patients and families during what can be a challenging time.
As a buggy driver, you will provide practical assistance and a warm, reassuring presence.
Responsibilities may include:
- safely driving the hospital buggy to transport patients and visitors between key areas of the hospital,
- assisting passengers on and off the buggy with care and patience,
- offering a friendly greeting and light conversation to help put people at ease,
- responding to transport requests from staff, patients or concierge teams,
- ensuring the buggy is clean, tidy and ready for use,
- notifying staff if a passenger appears unwell or requires additional support, and
- providing directions or basic information about hospital locations and services.
Morning and afternoon shifts are available Monday to Friday, with options for:
- 9am until 12.30pm (Courtesy Buggy)
- 8am until 12.30pm (Circle Buggy)
- 12.30pm until 4pm (Courtesy Buggy)
