Patient Visitor Volunteer

A hospital stay can be stressful or lonely, Patient Visitor Volunteers bring warmth, compassion and human connection into the clinical environment; their presence helps patients feel seen, supported and less alone.

As a Patient Visitor Volunteer, you will help ensure patients feel comfortable, cared for and connected during their stay.

This is a people focused role where small acts of kindness make a big difference.

Responsibilities may include:

  • spending time with patients who appreciate company or conversation,
  • offering emotional support to those who may feel lonely, worried, or overwhelmed,
  • reading to patients, playing games, or engaging in light activities when appropriate,
  • assisting patients with non clinical needs such as purchasing items from the onsite retail outlets,
  • helping patients contact staff if they need assistance,
  • providing a calm, friendly presence that helps reduce stress and improve wellbeing, and
  • supporting families and visitors by offering directions or reassurance.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys conversation, has a caring nature and wants to make a meaningful difference in someone’s day.

Morning and afternoon shifts are available Monday to Friday, with options for:

  • 10am to 12pm
  • 1pm to 3pm
