Falls Education

Please note a background in health is essential.

Falls Education volunteers play an important role in supporting patients to stay safe, confident and independent.

Using a simple, easy to follow workbook, volunteers will provide personalised education that helps patients understand their fall risks and develop practical prevention strategies.

Volunteers will receive comprehensive training, along with ongoing guidance from the Falls Clinical Nurse Consultant, physiotherapists and the wider team.

Responsibilities may include:

• providing clear, supportive information to patients using the falls education workbook,
• referring patients to health professionals when additional support is needed
• participating in ongoing training and feedback sessions, and
• promoting volunteer opportunities within the hospital community.

Volunteers should have a friendly, patient focused approach and willingness to learn.

Various shifts are available between 8am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.
