WA Liver & Kidney Service

WA Liver & Kidney Service (WALK) is the state provider for the workup and transplantation of patients with acute and chronic liver disease.  WALK is also a regional centre for kidney transplantation performing over half of the adult and all of the children’s renal transplants for WA. WALK provides:

• abdominal multi-organ donation services for Donate Life, a New Zealand and Australian international service.  
• 25 percent of the general surgery service for SCGH in both an elective and acute emergency capacity and is a regional tertiary centre for complex liver surgery. 
• training in transplantation surgery, complex Hepato-biliary and general surgery as well as undertake clinical and laboratory research in all aspects of transplantation and surgery.
• an Arteriovenous Fistulae procedure service.
