Haematology

The Haematology Department is responsible for the care of people with a wide variety of blood disorders. These disorders include blood cancers such as leukaemia and lymphoma as well as benign disorders like anaemia, haemophilia, bleeding and clotting disorders. These services include in-patient care, blood stem cell transplantation as well as out-patient clinics and supervision of home chemotherapy.

The Haematologists are dual-trained as Physicians and Pathologists and are uniquely placed to provide Pathology services for blood-related disorders via the PathWest laboratory on-site.

The Department participates in teaching of medical students, junior doctors and medical scientists with close links to the University of Western Australia, Notre Dame University and Curtin University.

Research is an integral part of the Department, with both basic science and clinical trials. We are active participants in many Australian Leukaemia Lymphoma Group clinical trials as well as industry sponsored therapeutic trials.
