Dr Natasha Stoinis
26/10/2020

Our SCGH Employee of the Month Award winner for August is Dr Natasha Stoinis, Registrar, Department of General Medicine - Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), SCGH.

Natasha was nominated for this award by Dr Hung Do Nguyen, Consultant Physician and Acting Clinical Lead in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), who said Natasha is a valued team member who has taken on a senior role in a time of need and excelled beyond expectation.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, which has required rapid change and flexibility, Natasha has been able to adapt quickly and lead by example.

An active contributor in the leadership group, Natasha worked with fellow leaders to develop and implement processes within the MAU which allowed staff to adapt to the demands of COVID-19.

Natasha works very closely with the nursing shift coordinator and Clinical Nurse Specialist on a daily basis to ensure patient flow is prioritised and maintained from the Emergency Department to the MAU. She utilises all resources available to ensure the treatment and disposition of the patient results in the delivery of optimal care and outcomes.

Natasha works tirelessly to ensure that staff and patient safety are at the forefront of all decision making, and demonstrates the NMHS values consistently through her genuine care for her patients and her colleagues.

Natasha’s passionate approach to patient-centred and holistic care is reflected in the amount of positive feedback received from patients. Her bedside manner is one of compassion and empathy; she takes pride in the care she delivers to her patients.

Dr Do Nguyen said Natasha has consistently demonstrated leadership qualities including decision making capabilities, an ability to inspire, skills in delegation and empowerment with honesty and integrity. Natasha often goes out of her way to ensure junior medical staff are well supported in their day-to-day work, creating a culture of commitment rather than compliance-only.

The MAU’s multi-disciplinary allied health team are vital to the complex care needs of the patient cohort and Natasha consistently ensures that their concerns and/or contributions to patient care are heard. Her attitude is always one of helpfulness, with others’ wellbeing always a priority.

Congratulations Natasha, thank you for living our values. You deserve this recognition and we commend you for your dedication and compassion.

Natasha and her colleagues will be invited to a catered afternoon tea where she will be presented with a $150 gift voucher from sponsors.

A special thanks to our generous sponsors: HESTA, Paywise, Smartsalary and Aware Super.

If you've had a great experience with one of our staff members why not put them forward for an award? Next time you are onsite ask how you can submit a nomination.
