Podiatry

The Podiatry Department provides a range of podiatry services to inpatients and outpatients. Our emphasis is placed on the early identification and long term management of 'high risk' patients and wound management.

Our services include:

  • Foot ulcer management
  • Diabetic foot management
  • Footwear assessment and provision
  • Minor surgical procedures
  • Biomechanical assessment
  • Orthotic and insole therapy

The podiatry department also coordinates a weekly outpatient multidisciplinary foot ulcer clinic (MDFUC) that meets the needs of patients with complex diabetes related foot disorders. This multidisciplinary service brings together the specialties of vascular surgery, infectious diseases, endocrinology, podiatry and nursing to manage complex and limb threatening foot complications.

Patients can be referred to this clinic via GP referral faxed to the Central Referral Service on 1300 365 056. A downloadable referral form (PDF) is available. Referrals must be clearly addressed to the Multidisciplinary Foot Ulcer Clinic.

For urgent referrals (need to be seen in less than 7 days) please contact the on-duty Vascular Registrar via the switchboard on (08) 6457 3333.

Please contact the Podiatry Department on (08) 6457 3373 if you wish to discuss a case.
