Specialties include; Orthopaedics, General, Vascular, Urology, Ophthalmology, Plastics, ENT, Transplantation Surgery including Liver Transplants and Neurosurgery

About Us

The Operating Theatre Suite is a friendly and stimulating area to work. We provide facilities for elective procedures and 24-hour emergency cover.

Approximately 10,000 surgical procedures are carried out annually.

Education and Research Activities

Education

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Operating Theatre Suite is committed to the ongoing education of all staff. As one of the major teaching Hospital's within Western Australia we endeavour to provide students, new staff and peers the opportunity to develop and learn new skills.

Nursing

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Operating Theatre Suite in collaboration with Fremantle, Princess Margaret, King Edward and Hollywood Hospitals offers a Graduate Diploma in Health (Perioperative Nursing) course. The course consists of rotations through all specialties at all sites over a twelve-month period.

The Operating Theatre Suite is committed to providing a thorough orientation and education programme to all new staff. All new staff rotate through all specialties within the department.
