Plastic Surgery
The OT Department provides a comprehensive service to inpatients following management of skin tears, skin grafts, muscle flaps, infections and abscesses, pressure ulcers, a variety of lesion / melanoma excisions, breast surgery, facial fractures and ear nose and throat procedures.
OT role:
- Attendance at Plastics Ward Team Meeting for patient review/ liason with medical, nursing and allied health.
- To assess, plan and implement treatment in order to improve or maintain optimal functioning
- Outpatient assessment, splinting and treatment for upper limb injuries through the Hand and Upper Limb Clinic
- Assist the patient to achieve/maintain maximum independence within his/her environment, and to cope with the impact of their injury/surgery.
- Promote safe and independent discharge home through provision of assistive devices and equipment as appropriate.
