Emergency Department

Services We Offer

A full range of adult emergency services is offered in all specialties with the exception of paediatrics and obstetrics.

The number of attendances to the Emergency Department is approximately 40,000 per annum with a consistently high admission rate of 42%. It is predicted that attendances will continue to rise, particularly with the opening of the new clinical area.

Our Toxicology Service is renowned as world class with two highly qualified toxicologists on staff. The WA Poisons Information Centre is situated adjacent to the Emergency Department clinical area.

The University Department of Emergency Medicine is located within the grounds of QEII and is closely linked to the clinical department in all areas related to teaching, research and clinical trials.

Incorporated into the provision of ED clinical services is the capacity for helicopter retrieval for immediate response with a helipad available on site.
