The construction of an expanded Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Cancer Centre has made the patient journey more convenient with cancer services now located in one building.
Under ground parking ground level pick up and drop off bays are available from Gairdner Drive, with additional parking available at several location at the QEII Medical Centre site.
Construction commenced in April 2010 and the centre opened in January 2013 with a transition of full cancer centre services occurring across 2013.
The expanded Cancer Centre will accommodate 140,000 patient visits each year and will allow patient access to outpatient cancer services in one location.
The new centre will consolidate Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Haematology, Outpatient Palliative Care, SolarisCare (complimentary therapies), Allied Health Supportive Care and services which are currently accessed in numerous different locations at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
The centre will also incorporate new, age appropriate Adolescent and Young Adults spaces, a quiet room for reflection and a gym for patients to learn how to use equipment in their local gym that will enhance their wellness.
There will be increased service capacity in the new centre including:
- Consultation rooms
- Medical Oncology treatment chairs/beds
- Haematology treatment chairs/beds
- Complimentary therapy rooms for SolarisCare
