Physiotherapists put their pride on the line for Purple Bra Day
A team of male Physiotherapists will risk their egos this Friday donning purple bras for the fundraising event Purple Bra Day.
The Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Physiotherapy Department is a long term supporter of Purple Bra Day which raises funds to provide emotional and financial support to local men, women and their families affected by breast cancer. This year the department hopes to raise over $1500 with their crazy antics.
Deputy Head of Department Ian Cooper will lead the bra-wearing ‘boys’ as they make their way through the Hospital’s wards collecting donations.
“It’s not your typical male bonding exercise but Purple Bra Day is great for team building while also raising money for a great cause,” said Mr Cooper. “It’s a chance for us to have a good laugh at one another, engage with our patients and give back to the community.”
“The Physiotherapy Department treats patients with such a wide range of diseases and conditions including many patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and we know just how important it is to their wellbeing that they all receive as much support as possible.”
Organiser of the SCGH Purple Bra Day fundraiser Jessica Dean said the bravest men had vowed to wear their purple bras for the entire day in exchange for sponsorship.
“There’s definitely a friendly sense of rivalry emerging between the men who are keen to see who can gain the most financial support,” said Ms Dean.
