Location:

The main Radiology Department is located in the centre of G Block on both the Ground and 1st Floors.  
Outpatient Radiology is located on the ground floor of E Block in the Outpatient Department.

Referral Source

The Department provides an x-ray service for the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.  GP referrals cannot be accepted.

The MRI scanner represents a State facility.  Specialist referrals are accepted from outside the Hospital.

Education and Research Activities

Education

The Department of Radiology is closely linked with the University Department of Western Australia and Clinical Training and Evaluation Centre (CTEC) for its under- graduate and postgraduate medical education, nursing and allied health education professionals.

Research

Research in interventional radiology is particularly linked to vascular disease and to the Liver Transplantation Unit.  Many research projects are being conducted in the MRI unit, focusing on functional brain imaging, pulmonary artery imaging and imaging of musculoskeletal disease.
